driving!!!

i drove for 2 hours straight
from malacca back into singapore

started at 6.30
the sky gradually darkened
soon it was twilight
and then pitch darkness
but for the lights of the other cars
and the beam of my own...

my body tensed up..
i was more alert than usual..
unconcsiously my body refused to relax
until we passed by areas lighted by street lamps..

annoying drivers would drive up to tailgate
and flash and flash again their lights
highly annoying and dangerous too...
cos they only succeeded in blinding me temporarily and
resulted in more delay as i had to check
and double check
that it was safe to switch lanes...

i counted the exits as they pass by
driving in singapore is never this exciting
its soo long
and soo far...
moans the frog who lives under the coconut shell
(most of the time...)

at the end of the journey..
i felt my body relax..
and noticed the pain of the cramps..

but my heart was snging

trip to nostalgia

the alleycats was blaring on the hi fi
we were driving down old malacca town

oh what a beautiful town, i thought
it's clean and pretty...
impressed, i was
enjoyed myself thoroughly, i did.

and the music, and the scenery
reminded me so much of the old singapore
in the 70s, early 80s...
i was hit by a pang of nostalgia

the good old days
that good ole feeling
feeling young again...

oh what a wonderful trip

poems

i have been in love with poetry ever since secondary school literature classes.

perhaps love is too strong a term to desribe it.
rather, i have been "involved" with it.
not all the time.. on and off...

and sometimes i don't get it...
too "qeem", as they say...

and some seem silly.. about fairies and curses... mere fairy tales

others are plain stupid..
hopeless love, unattainable ones
and dangerous sirens...
dreamy and flighty...gives me the shivers...
seems to me like the writers know naught about love in the first place

but my favourite poet thus far
is robert frost...
down to earth and real.

belated

i'm highly belated
with technology of course
can't seem to keep up
when once i was always on par
if not in the lead

oh well life goes on...

i'm starting this blog after reading my friend's
so interesting. and well illustrated
i'm like a dinosaur in contrast...
oh woe...!
