Taken before breakfast, so I looked a little hungry. The fresh air did wonders. I went home and took a 2 hour nap! hee hee

This picture was taken this morning. Took advantage of the holidays and the fact that Iryan was home to take a walk along East Coast beach. Here I am taking a breather after what seemed to me a long walk (but Iryan said we barely walked a few hundred meters before I had to look for... what else? the loo! )

Still at the Piano

I was sitting at the Piano most of the time during the engagement and I found out that I cannot sit on the floor. It was just not possible. I tried to sit next to my hubby but I had to get up quick (and I have to add that I looked really awful and pathetic doing so) cos my feet were very very swollen. I think my face is swollen too! This pic is with my sis and my cousin Shah. They are both still single and available, by the way.. he he he.. I wanna try start a matchmaking agency...

With my sister

Still at the engagement. Had quite a bit of fun there, catching up with relatives. This is a pic with Su. People have always said we look alike, but honestly I really don't think so...

At my cousin's engagement

About Ibu Mertuaku

No I'm not talking about my own MIL in this blog entry.

I was watching a documentary about Jalan Ampas on Suria the other day
And of course that made me want to watch Ibu Mertua Ku all over again
I think that is one of my all time favourite movie
They just don't make movies like that anymore, and I am sure most of you will agree with me on that!

Anyway, that reminded me about the last time I watched that show. Z and Sal had come over to my place to "hang out" and Z wanted me to cut her hair. That was fun... And we watched Ibu Mertua Ku cos at that time I had not bought my DVD player yet and so we could not play the CSI dvds Sal had brought along...

And of course, us being the non discreet critics that we are... we had to shoot our mouths off about the show...

And for kicks (and for want of something better to do), I am going to reproduce some of our criticisms and analatical comments.. (about how and why the show is about snobbish rich people who just cause trouble for everybody else!!!) he he he...

Ok... the following are the reasons why Sabariah is the true villain in the movie...

1) She was about to be engaged to some doctor, yet she was so "gatal", she had to call and disturb poor Kassim Selamat, who was just minding his own business, having a good time doing what what he does best (read: play the saxaphone)

2) She was so "absorbed" with him, she actually had to roll around on the bed (and off the bed) when his saxaphone/ music is played on the radio (ok, this is not exactly villainous, she just gave me goosebumps and the shivers.. I mean.. please lah!!!)

3) She never explained to him the situation she was facing at home. I mean people promise the moon when they are in love. The poor guy just told her he will love her, and the next thing he knows, he is being dragged before the kadhi and forced to marry her and take her away as if it was a shotgun marriage... If I were him I would have left her!!!

4) She stopped him from earning a living the only way he knows best (i.e. play music), because she she wanted to stay in her mother's good books. Please lah, your mother has already chased you out of the house, and NOW you want to stay in her good books, by starving??? Ok I will admit, playing in a nightclub is not exactly a fantastic or honourable job.. but what about teaching music, or doing a tour concert (that he ended up doing anyway after he believed her dead). But no... he cannot have anything to do with music cos that will not make her mother happy. It is perfectly acceptable to listen and watch music concerts but not acceptable to be married to a musician... And the worse part is that the music was what attracted her to him in the first place.. and now he can't play that anymore just because she says so... (And he stupidly listen.. the poor fellow was blinded by love!)

5) After forcing the poor life down his throat, she of course cannot take it, and had to write to her mother and begged to be brought back home to Singapore... (of course the couple were stupid to fritter away the cash the MIL gave them in the first place without thought to the future... and on betting on horse racing of all things!!!)

6) She did not bother to look for him when he did not reply to her letters after her son was born, and just weakly accepted her mother's suggestion to ask for a divorce. I mean hello... you know how your mother feels about your husband.. should alarm bells not have gone off in your head??? And then after that, happily, she agreed to marry her doctor. I mean.. arebn;t you rich... can't you afford your own private investigator to find out what really happened to him.... (who in the meantime has been told that she has died and had cried himself blind! ) Pathetic!!

Final analysis: the two main characters are weak and pathetic people! Ha ha ha ha...

Hee hee hee... Ok... I think I may have gone overboard with the above comments..and if you have never watched Ibu MertuaKu before.. you'll probably think it is some crappy show.. But it really is not... You just have to watch it.. its fantastic. A real classic!
