Sick
I've had a pretty horrid month
I had planned to spend a romantic new year weekend
with my hubby in a 5-star hotel
On the Tuesday morning before The weekend
I had a fever so high I could not walk without assistance.
I could not even stand.
I had attempted to flag a cab to take me at first to work,
then as the time passed and no cab passed me by, I thought
better go to the clinic. I waited miserably for the cab, barely able to stand.
When I finally gave up and took a seat at the bus shelter
An empty cab passed by
The injustice of the world
But on hindsight, there was probably hikmah in that...
I sat at the bus shelter for about 20 minutes
Then thought, I can't stay here forever.
I called hubby. I could not walk. He would come home from work (night shift)
in about an hour's time.
My hubby called my mom. She had just returned from the market.
She appeared 5 minutes later
And took me to the clinic.
My fever was 39.1 degrees celsius
No wonder I was so dizzy!
But the next day the fever did not go down
I spent the 2 days in a haze.
Doing little other than sleeping
By Wednesday night the fever was still high.
My husband got worried.
He and my dad sent me to the hospital
And I was warded that night.
Its not the first time I've been hospitalised
But the last time it happened
I was too young to remember
I stayed in the hospital for 7 days.
I was finally! discharged the next Thursday.
When I was first warded, they did not know what was wrong with me.
On the 3rd day they told me that it could be dengue.
The worst part was the potassium drip
I think my tolerance for pain is pretty low
I squirmed and I whined and I went Ow Ow Ow
And I gripped hubby's hands tightly
And I cared not a hoot about my dignity
Speaking of dignity
In hospital you lose your dignity
You expose yourself
Before the nurses and the doctors
And you don't think about being embarassed
Thank god the health care professionals are that
Professionals.. and they are so nice
I have a new respect for the nurses..
So after I was discharged
I thought hooray long MC!
Yeah right...
I was so weak most of the time
It was pathetic
And my hand blistered
And my feet swelled (and blistered)
And I was woozy most of the time...
So I had a horrid month
And I spent my birthday in the ICU ward...
And my hospital bill is tremendous
But I'm better now.. I'm back at work
Alhamdulillah
All praises to Allah...

What through life conspire to cheat you,
do not sorrow or complain.
Lie still on the day of pain,
And the day of joy will greet you.
Hearts live in the coming day,
There's an end to passing sorrow.
Suddenly all flies away,
and the delight returns tomorrow!
